My youngest daughter (14) had her heart broken for the first time by a boy (we’ll just refer to him as little turd from now on💩…) Relationships are just “not his style” and she should please stop begging him to explain what made him feel this way all of a sudden. I messaged my oldest daughter and told her what happened. Her reply after multiple angry emoticons was “🤬We are going to bomb his house with eggs.”

When we first met the little turd💩, we both were saying he seems like a genuinely nice lad with good manners from a reputable home. Her sister and I could see how smitten she was and said that it is just what she needs to break out of her shy shell. I saw my daughter evolving from a grumpy teenager hiding in her room into a delightful, friendly girl chatting more and spending less time in her room. Yesterday she and I were doing some essential retail therapy and I could not help giggling at how she and the little turd 💩were teasing each other on the phone. Just a few hours later he would realise relationships are not his style…fucking little turd💩😒 And just like that, my oldest and I are ready for war – she with eggs but I think bullets would be more effective…and that got me thinking. Being female in a world where phallocentric dominance is still alive and kicking (just hidden and disguised as glass ceilings etc.) women have this magical, shared consciousness. It is not only mothers, daughters and sisters that feel this bond, it’s woman everywhere. A best friend pitching up with a bottle of wine when you’re feeling sad or saying what a piece of lowlife scum your ex is, just to immediately retract those statements when you and the ex, make-up. Even our hormones synchronise with other women in the same house or office, after a while. Females, not knowing each other but coming together in masses to protest gender-based violence even if they have not been a victim to it…Femicide is sadly very big and very real in South Africa😥

The majority males are physically stronger, that is unfortunately a biological fact. But I do not envy their strength (well, maybe when opening a jar…😏) I am so grateful and proud to be female. You see, I don’t think men have anything else going for them other than strength to be honest. Maybe it’s because women share the ability to carry a child, maybe it’s because of decades being treated unfairly, assaulted and raped. I don’t know, but I do know we have a 6th sense and are linked with an invisible subconscious cord, connecting us.

Last night I experienced something I’ve been dreading for 18 years.
