New years eve… 8pm and I’m lying on the bed with my 14 year old daughter by my side, watching movies. Couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the end of this year!
My sympathies to all who planned a party tonight….. 2 days ago our president banned the sale or transport of liqueur. Not banning alcohol but making it darn near impossible to get a drink! Some people are gonna have a dry night tonight and don’t forget…curfew is at 9 pm, so you will have to greet the new year from your home or sleep over where you’re at! A fitting ending to a shitty year, don’t you think?
2020 can be defined by one question….WTF?? What an extremely strange and freaky year. I still remember how horrified I was to see Australia burning (seems to be years ago…) in the beginning of this year. And then because Australia and Greta Unberg were getting so much attention, Trump’s small penis syndrome flared up and he decided to start WWIII!! But then a bat got ill in China, didn’t cover his mouth when couching and gave his snot flu to a human……or something like that. Boom! and within seconds we were smack bang in the middle of a pandemic with quarantine’s, lockdowns and masks. All of a sudden you saw things you never would have seen regarding your friends, and you realise who they really are and wonder why you’re friends with them….. New groups were formed and consisted of those who believed the virus is real, and those who don’t. Conspiracy theories boomed and doubled in followers, especially from the Boomer generation – I am still waiting for an answer on why Bill Gates would want to chip and control us and why?
Sadly I was disappointed again by a country always advertised and propagated as the land of free, liberty an justice….Look, make no mistake, my country is sort of infamous when it comes to racial injustice and racism, but it was always one of my hopes that we could evolve to a 1st world country’s tolerance and humanity…Apparently I was wrong and realise that we are way ahead of other countries when it comes tolerance and uniting as a nation. The whole BLM dilemma highlighted disturbing facts about those around me and made me aware of a whole group of people madly supporting Trump, as if he was their great, big, white hope….yeah, I know, doesn’t make sense to me as well……maybe they are confusing S.A. with USA🤷♀️ Anyway, I’m getting distracted…what I wanted to say it that personally I’ve learned a lot about my friends, family and people I considered close, and I am grateful for that. There is always something we can be grateful for, even in a year like this. We all made it this far, we survived…..loosing a job, loosing maybe your home, loosing a loved one…but you and I are still here. I have to be honest with you guys and just say that even though tomorrow is the start of a new year, I think the world is in for a rough and bumpy road ahead…..
But guess what? We all now have, a whole year, of experience in pretty scary stuff man! Monster fires….brooding wars …..locusts……floods….earthquakes…….and……a real life pandemic! We’ve got this!💪 😉 May you, your loved ones and the friends you still have left, have an awesome New Year and a blessed 2021! Be grateful always, strong and remember that this too shall pass. Let’s go an show 2021 what we are made off!💗
